My hair is curly in the back and underneath, but the front and the very top is pretty straight, so I can't wear my hair curly.
This is one of the most common things I hear on a day to day basis. This is the reality for a lot of curly haired people. So why isn't the front/top curly?
It is curly. You've just damaged it to the point it's not curling. While there is variation between curl types on almost every curly person's head, if you have curl, you don't have straight pieces.
The front and top of our hair is more exposed to the elements, the wind is able to dry it out more, we touch it more, it's the hair we see when we are straightening or curling our hair so it's had more heat damage, and so much more!
When I put it that way, are you nodding your head? Of course! So what can we do about it?
Start taking care of your curly hair better. Stop straightening and curling it. Learn how to wash and condition it and how to make sure you're getting enough water into it to help hydrate and heal it and watch how your curls bounce back!
